KATHUA, DECEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma reviewed the progress of the Public Works Department (PWD) sector schemes at a meeting held Tuesday.

The meeting, as per an official statement, was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Ranjeet Thakur; Superintendent Engineer PWD, Executive Engineer PWD, AEEs, Technical Officer and other concerned officers.

Executive Engineer PWD apprised the chair about the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under District Capex, NFB, Untied funds, Urban Development, Seema Suraksha Yojana, CDF, NABARD, UT Capex, CRF and City & Town schemes.

It was informed that out of 32 NABARD funded projects, 21 have been completed and the work on the rest is in progress.

Similarly, work has been completed on six out of 16 projects taken up under UT Capex. Taking a serious view of the slow pace of execution under the City & Town scheme, the DC directed the officers to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards. He emphasized fixing accountability and avoiding delays at all levels.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed the department to optimally utilise the available time to clear financial liabilities by December 31, keeping in view the scheduled 30 percent budget cut. He stressed the need for timely billing and close monitoring to ensure maximum utilization of funds before the cut comes into effect.
