KATHUA, JANUARY 02: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma Friday chaired a review meeting to assess the headway achieved under the Catch the Rain programme being implemented under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on the planning and execution of water conservation works taken up under the ambit of Catch the Rain 2.0. The emphasis was laid on effective rainwater harvesting, rejuvenation of water bodies and creation of sustainable water conservation assets.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for proper mapping of all water sources and water conservation assets created across the district to ensure comprehensive profiling and better planning. He emphasised regular up-dation of progress by all stakeholder departments on the designated portal by uploading geo-tagged photographs to maintain transparency and real-time monitoring.
The DC also laid emphasis on taking up water conservation works strictly within the scope and mandate of the respective stakeholder departments and ensuring timely reporting of physical and financial progress on the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidhari portal.
Emphasising community involvement, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensifying efforts to motivate public participation in water conservation initiatives. He underscored the importance of creating awareness among local communities to promote judicious use of water and strengthening grassroots-level water management.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Surinder Mohan Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, Ranjeet Thakur, ACD, ACP, CAO, CHO, DFO, DEPO, XEN PHE, XEN Flood Control and other concerned officers.
