BANDIPORA, JANUARY 08: The Income Tax Department, Circle Srinagar, organised a Tax Awareness Program at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Bandipora, to promote voluntary tax compliance, grievance redressal and awareness about recent changes in income tax laws.
Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD), Srinagar, Shakeel Ahmad Ganai, as per an official statement, termed the initiative a first-of-its-kind outreach in the district and said it aimed at amicable settlement of grievances and better understanding of income tax provisions.
On the occasion, Income Tax Officer (ITO) made a detailed presentation, giving general awareness about the functioning of the Income Tax Department, available taxpayer services and the importance of timely and correct compliance.
While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, emphasised timely response to income tax notices and highlighted that tax compliance is essential for development and growth. She noted that the people of the district are cooperative and stressed expanding such programmes to include all associations in future.
The program witnessed participation from representatives of trade bodies, business associations, mining community and other stakeholders, marking an important step towards strengthening tax awareness and cooperative compliance in the district.
