Police seize contraband, arrest one in Shopian

Srinagar, Jan 09: In its continued crackdown against drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from residential house in Barbugh, Imamsahib and arrested the accused person.

As per the statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), acting on specific information, Police Station Imamsahib registered a case under FIR No. 02/2026 of NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the competent authority. A team from Police Station Imamsahib accompanied by the Tehsildar Barbugh raided the residential premises of Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, resident of Barbugh. During the search, 20.720 Kgs of cannabis & 130 grams charas-like substance was recovered from residential house. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.

J&K Police reiterate its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urge the public to extend cooperation.
