Srinagar, Jan 10: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Awantipora and Budgam; and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police party led by SHP Police Station Awantipora arrested two drug peddlers during naka checking at Padgampora near the CRPF Camp. The accused have been identified as Mahasif Wani, son of Masrat Wani, resident of Fatehkadal, Srinagar; and Sahil Khokhar, son of Mohd Ashraf, resident of Pindobal Kokernag. During search, approximately 650 grams of Bung Chura were recovered from their possession.
In Budgam, a police party from Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established near Ompora Railway Flyover intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01J-4450 with two persons on board. During search, heroin and charas-like substances were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan, resident of Bathar Budgam; and Irshad Ahmad Kuchay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kuchay, resident of Munipappy Budgam. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the statement reads.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation is underway.
Police said they remained committed to eradicating the drug menace and urges the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking, the statement further reads. (KNO)
