DLSA Reasi holds Legal Awareness Programmes on public welfare issues

REASI, JANUARY 22: Under the visionary leadership of Chairman Khalil Choudhary, Chairman (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) and Secretary Pooja Gupta, District Legal Services Authority Reasi on Thursday organised multiple awareness programs in different parts of the district.

 An awareness session, as per an official statement, on “Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH) Act” was held at village Akhli for the members of a local Self Help Group. Assistant LADC, Bhumika Rajput was the resource person. She elaborated the provisions and legal framework of the POSH Act. The participants were apprised of what constitutes sexual harassment, the rights and duties of employees and employers, the role of the internal Complaint Committee and the procedure for filing complaints under the Act.  Incharge Self Help Group, Meenakshi Verma and members of the group attended the program.

An awareness program on “Patriotism” was held at Government High School-Garn Katra by PLVs of TLSC.

The PLVs highlighted the importance of duties of citizens, constitutional principles and the role of individuals in strengthening the nation. Emphasis was laid on promoting harmony, social responsibility and awareness about the legal rights and duties as responsible citizens of the country.

Awareness programs on Prohibition of Child Marriage Act was also organised at Govt. Higher Secondary School Reasi, GHSS Bhomag and GHSS Pouni. The participants were made aware about the social and legal consequences of child marriage, provisions of the Prohibition of child Marriage Act, 2006 and the importance of ensuring education, health and overall development of children. They were also informed about free Legal Aid services available through DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in safeguarding the rights of women and children.

Further, a series of awareness programs in Mahore, focusing on the Government Schemes related to women empowerment, welfare of senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities.

The   PLVs sensitized the participants about important welfare schemes related to social security, health, education, women & child welfare and other public benefit initiatives.
