Srinagar, Jan 22: Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu & Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at DPO Anantnag to assess the prevailing security situation and review ongoing anti-terror operations in the districts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Police District Awantipora, ahead of Republic Day 2026.

The meeting was attended by Special DGP (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo, SSP Anantnag Amritpal Singh, SSP Kulgam Anayat Choudhary, SSP Awantipora Sajad Hussain Shah, along with other Gazetted Officers and SHOs from Districts Anantnag, Kulgam and PD Awantipora.

During the meeting, the DGP conducted a detailed review of law-and-order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures, and security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. He called for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination, and strong intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free Republic Day celebrations.

Addressing the officers, Prabhat issued clear directions to deal firmly and decisively with anti-national elements posing threats to public safety, peace, and tranquillity. He reiterated zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and emphasised the importance of sustained and focused operations against such elements.

The DGP urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach, while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism, and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a safe and secure environment for the citizens.
