Srinagar, Jan 25: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday extended warm greetings to the people of the country on the 77th Republic Day of India.

In his message, Dr Farooq said that Republic Day is a reminder of the values enshrined in the Constitution, which have guided the nation through decades of challenges.

“The Constitution of India stands as a proud symbol of our collective commitment to secularism, federalism, democracy and social justice. These principles have ensured unity in diversity and must be protected at all costs to strengthen the foundations of our nation,” he said.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his message, said that the occasion calls for reaffirming faith in the constitutional ideals that bind the country together. “Our secular and federal Constitution guarantees equality, dignity and justice to every citizen. It is our shared responsibility to uphold these values and work towards a more inclusive, democratic, secular and harmonious India,” he said.

The duo expressed hope that the country would continue to progress on the path of peace, unity and constitutional governance and wished the people prosperity and well-being on the auspicious occasion.

Party rank and file have also greeted countrymen on the solemn occasion.
