Srinagar, Feb 03: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has said there is no proposal to extend the Smart City e-bus service to Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district as the area falls outside the limits of the Srinagar Metropolitan Region (SMR).
According to a written reply to a question by MLA Rafiq Ahmad Naik, tabled in the Legislative Assembly by the Transport Department, the government said that the Smart City e-bus service operates strictly under the operational guidelines of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). “E-bus service is being operated within the Srinagar Metropolitan Region (SMR). Tral constituency falls out of SMR limits,” the reply reads.
The department also clarified that there is “no proposal under consideration” to introduce Smart e-Bus connectivity from Tral to Srinagar via Nowdal, Dadsara, or Awantipora at present. It further informed that “no Smart e-buses are currently operational in South Kashmir.”
