Jammu, Feb 03: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will introduce two bills-one for decriminalising certain offences to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business, and another for eliminating discrimination against leprosy-affected patients-on Wednesday in the Legislative Assembly.

As per the list of business circulated by the Legislative Assembly this evening, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), CM Omar Abdullah will introduce a bill to amend certain enactments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for decriminalising and rationalising offences to further strengthen trust-based governance and promote ease of living and doing business.

The CM will also move another bill to amend certain enactments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to eliminate any discrimination or denial of equal treatment for persons affected by leprosy. The bill seeks to address practices that negatively impact such persons, promote segregation and discrimination, and enable the Union Territory to discharge positive obligations through affirmative action.
