SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 06: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Friday visited the Seed Multiplication Farm at Padgampora, Pulwama, to assess ongoing activities and review the progress of seed production initiatives.

During the visit, the Director, as per an official statement, specifically inspected the Section Vegetables, where he evaluated the current status of vegetable seed multiplication efforts. He reviewed the overall working of the section, including field operations, crop management practices, and preparations for quality seed production to meet the region’s agricultural requirements.

The Director emphasized the critical role of departmental seed multiplication farms in achieving self-reliance in quality seeds for various crops, particularly in the vegetable sector, to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity in Kashmir.

Seed Production Officer, Kashmir, Mir Ajaz Hassan, briefed the Director on the technical aspects and ongoing interventions in the vegetable seed production program. Farm Manager, Padgampora, Mohammad Munaf Bhat, was also present on the occasion and provided detailed insights into farm management, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations.

The Director interacted with field staff and officers, directing them to adopt modern scientific practices and work in a mission mode to ensure timely availability of certified seeds to the farming community. He reiterated the department’s commitment to upgrading seed multiplication farms and strengthening post-harvest management for better outcomes.

This visit underscores the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir’s continued focus on strengthening seed infrastructure and promoting sustainable agriculture practices across the valley.
