SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 17: The Social Welfare Department Srinagar successfully organized a theme-based Nukkad Natak (street play) at prominent public locations including Parimpora Bus Stand and Batamaloo, aiming to generate awareness about welfare schemes and support systems available for senior citizens.
The creative street performance, as per an official statement, effectively highlighted various social and financial security schemes, improved access to healthcare facilities, availability of shelter services, and initiatives promoting active and dignified ageing.
Through powerful storytelling, engaging dialogues, and impactful performances, the artists sensitized the public about the rights, entitlements, and well-being of elderly citizens. The play conveyed a strong message about ensuring dignity, protection, and an enhanced quality of life for senior members of society.
The performance also educated the audience about government-supported facilities such as old age homes, mobile medicare units, distribution of assistive devices for eligible elderly persons, pension schemes, and the National Elder Helpline.
The act successfully drew the attention of commuters, shopkeepers, and local residents, encouraging them to actively spread awareness about welfare initiatives meant for senior citizens.
