Jammu, Feb 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday informed the House that the process of bifurcation of ration cards has been put on hold.

Replying to question tabled by MLA Zafar Ali Khatana regarding bifurcation of ration cards, the government said the bifurcation was put on hold vide Government Order No. 85-CAPD of 2016 dated May 4, 2016.

It further stated that the Administrative Department, through communication dated November 19, 2020, has advised that bifurcation of ration cards is not permitted till revised ration ceilings are conveyed by the Government of India.

However, the reply said that the J&K administration is currently quantifying the approximate additional allocation required to cover bifurcation cases for taking up the matter with the Government of India—(KNO)
