Outlines timelines for resolving issues affecting project

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, along with the Secretary Transport Department, chaired a meeting to review the progress on preparation of cost estimates for utility interventions along River Jhelum aimed at facilitating water transport.

The meeting, as per an official statement, was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Ganderbal, and Bandipora, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Assistant Director IWAI Baramulla, Chief Engineers of KPDCL and KPTCL, Superintending Engineers of R&B and PHE departments, among other officials.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner outlined clear timelines for resolving issues affecting the project. He instructed engineers to submit cost estimates within weeks for key interventions, including removal of cofferdams and ensuring adequate height clearance of 33KV and 11KV power lines along the river stretch.

While reviewing the Action Taken Report on land possession at eight identified locations along River Jhelum, officials informed the chair that possession has been secured at seven sites. The remaining location requires further engagement with the local community to resolve pending concerns.
