Jammu, Feb 24: As many as 120 official websites of the Jammu & Kashmir Government were temporarily disabled during the ongoing financial year 2025–26, official documents reveal.

Documents in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), show that 120 websites hosted at the Jammu & Kashmir State Data Centre (JKSDC) were taken offline during 2025–26 due to the non-availability of “Safe to Host” certificates.

The “Safe to Host” certificates serve as essential security clearances for websites and web applications. According to the documents, all affected websites were restored after undergoing a comprehensive security audit.

The audit was conducted by CERT-In empanelled auditors, who carried out vulnerability assessments and identified potential security gaps. These vulnerabilities were subsequently examined and rectified by the concerned departments and development teams.

Upon satisfactory closure of all observations, the auditors issued a “Safe to Host (STH)” certificate, certifying that the websites met prescribed security standards. Following this clearance, the websites were made live again at the Data Centre in accordance with hosting and security protocols.

It is worthwhile to mention that these websites became inaccessible in May last year, temporarily affecting the delivery of online services to the public. (KNO)
