DC reviews progress across 3 Municipal towns in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, MARCH 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa Monday chaired a meeting of officers from the Urban Local Bodies to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban  scheme in the district.

The meeting, as per an official statement, was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore; Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan and other concerned officers.

The DC conducted a detailed review of the scheme’s implementation across one Municipal Council and two Municipal Committees in the district. The review covered the status of PMAY-U 2.0, District Capex Budget works for 2025–26, progress of mega projects undertaken by the Municipal Council, construction of multi-storey parking facilities, installation and maintenance of street lights, garbage collection and disposal mechanisms, night illumination in all three towns, identification of garbage dumping points, non-commenced works under PMAY-U and construction of the Town Hall building.

The DC directed the Tehsildars to clear all pending revenue papers of PMAY-U beneficiaries within a week. He further instructed initiation of recovery proceedings against beneficiaries who have failed to commence construction despite availing benefits and called for expediting the overall pace of progress.

Emphasizing effective sanitation and urban infrastructure management, the DC directed the MCs to identify garbage dumping points, ensure timely collection and proper disposal of waste in all three towns and maintain adequate night illumination.
