Jammu, Mar 04: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Rising Star Corps, also known as 9 Corps, Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat on Wednesday reviewed the operational preparedness of troops deployed in the strategically significant Mamun sector.

The Rising Star Corps based in Yol, Himachal Pradesh oversees key training institutes in the state along with operational responsibilities in the Mamun sector. The Mamun headquarters, located at Pathankot, supervises operational areas spanning Samba, Kathua and parts of Jammu district in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The GOC of Rising Star Corps reviewed operational preparedness of troops in Mamun sector,” Arny said in a post on X.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Sharawat assessed the security grid and readiness levels of the formations tasked with safeguarding the sensitive belt.

He commended the troops for their professionalism, high morale and unwavering commitment to the nation, emphasizing the need for constant alertness in view of prevailing security challenges.

The review assumes added significance amid heightened security in Jammu and Kashmir, triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its possible ramifications.

The Army’s Northern Command has been maintaining close watch over the evolving situation, with the White Knight Corps and the Chinar Corps intensifying surveillance and operational readiness across their respective areas of responsibility—(KNO)
