Srinagar, Mar 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Monday inspected the progress of ongoing health infrastructure upgradation works at JLNM Hospital Rainawari and reviewed development works at Urban Primary Health Centre S.R. Gunj in the Shahr-e-Khaas area of the city.
The DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B, Shabir Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahir Sajad, Medical Superintendent JLNM Hospital Dr Tariq, Zonal Medical Officer SR Gunj, Dr Shafqat, Executive Engineers R&B, Arif Hazari and other concerned officers.
During the visit to JLNM Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection of several key projects including the construction of a 100-bedded additional block, the District Integrated Public Health (DIPH) Laboratory and a biomedical waste shed.
While reviewing the construction of the additional hospital block, the DC directed the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work and ensure timely completion of the project aimed at significantly enhancing patient care services at the hospital.
He also inspected the construction of the District Integrated Public Health Laboratory being established under the PM‑Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The facility is expected to strengthen disease surveillance and public health response mechanisms in the district.
The DC instructed the concerned agency to expedite the remaining work and make the laboratory operational at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the newly constructed Biomedical Waste Shed developed by the Public Works Department (R&B) for the safe and scientific disposal of biomedical waste. He directed the concerned agency to handover the facility to the hospital administration promptly to ensure improved sanitation and environmental safety within the hospital premises.
Interacting with hospital staff, the DC stressed the need to maintain high standards of patient care and efficient delivery of healthcare services to ensure that the public does not face inconvenience.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Urban Primary Health Centre(UPHC) S.R. Gunj at Maharaj Gunj and reviewed the progress of the remaining works at the facility. He directed the executing agency to accelerate the pace of construction so that the project is completed at the earliest for the benefit of the local population.
The DC further instructed officials to ensure that the UPHC S.R. Gunj is made fully operational soon.
