DC Kishtwar leads swift rescue operation

KISHTWAR, MARCH 16: In a swift and coordinated rescue operation, the District Administration Kishtwar, spearheaded by the Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma successfully evacuated more than 150 passengers stranded at Sinthan Top after heavy snowfall disrupted traffic and left several vehicles trapped on the route.

Acting promptly, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, rushed to the spot along with SSP Naresh Singh and the Commanding Officer, 11 Rashtriya Rifles, to personally supervise the rescue efforts.

The Deputy Commissioner issued necessary directions to the concerned departments and rescue teams to ensure the safe evacuation of the stranded passengers.

More than 25 vehicles carrying over 150 passengers were reportedly stuck at the high-altitude pass due to sudden heavy snowfall and slippery road conditions. After a coordinated rescue operation, all stranded passengers were safely and securely evacuated from the area.

The rescue operation consisted of officials from district administration, police and security forces, whose timely intervention helped avert any major emergency in the snowbound region.

SDM Chatroo Nayeem-ur-Rehman, Tehsildar Shuja Hamid and officers from NHIDCL, along with other concerned officials also assisted in the rescue and evacuation process.
