Srinagar, 16 Mar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar, Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar, on Monday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Catarhex 3 Phaco Emulsification Unit at Gousia Hospital in Khanyar. MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar was also present on the occasion.

The Catarhex 3 Phaco Emulsification Unit, a latest Swiss-made system widely used worldwide for cataract surgery, has been installed at a cost of Rs 63 lakh. The advanced technology enhances surgical precision and allows cataract procedures to be performed through extremely small incisions of 2 mm or less, enabling faster recovery and significantly improved post-operative visual outcomes for patients.

Speaking on the occasion, Sagar, as per a party statement, said that the installation of this modern equipment will substantially strengthen eye-care services at Gousia Hospital and benefit a large number of patients requiring cataract treatment.

He also lauded the efforts of the government led by Omar Abdullah for taking concrete steps to improve healthcare infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the government is giving special focus to strengthening the health and education sectors to ensure better public services and improve the quality of life for the people.

Medical staff, hospital administration and local residents were present on the occasion and welcomed the installation of the advanced cataract surgery system, which is expected to significantly enhance the quality, efficiency and accessibility of ophthalmic care in the region.
