DC Ganderbal chairs monthly NCORD meeting

GANDERBAL, MARCH 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore Tuesday chaired the monthly District Level NCORD meeting to review the progress of ongoing anti-drug initiatives and measures aimed at curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.

At the outset, the DC, as per an official statement, assessed the status of enforcement and preventive measures and emphasized strengthening inter-departmental coordination to effectively tackle the drug menace. The meeting also reviewed progress under the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign and sought action taken reports from concerned departments.

Reviewing enforcement efforts, it was informed that drug testing has been intensified through test kits across the district. The DC directed for further strengthening tracing mechanisms to identify supply chains in the district.

Drug Control Department was instructed to ensure close monitoring of chemist shops and conduct routine inspections to prevent misuse and illegal sale of substances.

The DC further directed for expediting suspension of driving licenses of all those involved in drug-related offences.

On awareness and prevention, the DC instructed the Education Department to conduct regular awareness programmes in schools and colleges.

Reviewing health interventions, the Health Department was directed to enhance counselling and rehabilitation services. The DC also reviewed the status of training of counsellors to ensure effective de-addiction support.

The Assistant Commissioner Development was directed to get wall paintings done at strategic locations across the district to raise awareness against drug abuse and promote a strong anti-drug message among the public.

Among others, the meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy Director Prosecution, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Assistant Director Drugs Control department and other officers and officials from concerned departments.
