PULWAMA, MARCH 24: A programme was Tuesday organised at Town Hall Pulwama under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB” to mark World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

The event was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi.

During the event, experts and medical professionals from the Health Department, as per an official statement, sensitised participants about tuberculosis, its symptoms, prevention, and the importance of timely diagnosis and complete treatment. Emphasis was laid on community awareness and collective efforts to eliminate TB.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA appreciated the sustained efforts of the Health Department and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in combating the disease. He highlighted the challenges posed by TB in earlier years and noted that the significant decline in mortality rates reflects the dedicated work of healthcare workers and stakeholders. He stressed the importance of early detection and urged frontline workers to remain vigilant and proactive to ensure timely identification and treatment of cases.

On the occasion, the MLA flagged off the TB Mukt Abhiyaan–100 Days Campaign, aimed at accelerating case detection, improving treatment adherence, and strengthening last-mile delivery of TB services.

The programme also featured felicitation of TB Mukt Panchayats and field functionaries who have played a pivotal role in spreading awareness and contributing to TB control efforts in the district.

Among others present were Chief Medical Officer Pulwama; Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Pulwama; District Health Officer Pulwama; District Tuberculosis Officer, Pulwama; Block Medical Officers, besides officials from the Rural Development Department and health staff associated with the National TB Elimination Programme.
