Police arrest drug peddler in Baramulla

Srinagar, Mar 25: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, J&K Police in Baramulla arrested a drug peddler and recovered Contraband substances.

According to a statement, a police party of Police Station Kunzer, during routine patrolling at Chichilora Kunzer, intercepted a suspicious vehicle (HR55AD2930). During checking, one individual fled from the spot, while the driver namely Waheed Sultan son of Mohammad Sultan Ganie resident of Sheerpora Bangil, Pattan, was apprehended. During his search, 27 grams of charas was recovered. On his disclosure, a search was conducted at the residence of the absconding accused Ziakat Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar resident of Chichilora, Kunzer under the supervision of SHO PS Kunzer, in the presence of a Gazetted Officer deputed by the Magistrate and the concerned Numberdar. During the search, approximately 1 Kg 690 grams of charas powder was recovered.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 35/2026 U/S 8/20-29 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Kunzer. Investigation is in progress and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused.

J&K Police remain committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urge the general public to cooperate with the police by providing information about drug peddling or any suspicious activities in their areas—(KNO)
