JAMMU, APRIL 09: To enforce compliance with the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan under NCORD and adherence to prescribed Standard Operating Procedures, a joint inspection drive of chemist shops and drug de-addiction centres was conducted Thursday across the territorial jurisdiction of Jammu North.
The inspection team, as per an official statement, was led by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dr. Deepak Kumar, accompanied by SDPO Domana, Mudassir Chowdhary and the Drug Inspector, Jammu North.
During the extensive drive, the joint team inspected several medical establishments to verify the maintenance of the records, functionality of CCTV cameras and implementation of mandatory computerized billing systems with invoices being verified on the spot by the officials.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against medical negligence, the SDM Jammu North directed all chemists to ensure the availability of qualified personnel, proper record-keeping and functional billing systems. It was reiterated that such surprise inspection drives will continue in the future and warned that stringent action will be taken against violators to safeguard public health and ensure transparency in the sale of medicines.
Further, the joint team also inspected drug de-addiction centres to ensure compliance with prescribed guidelines. The inspection focused on verification of valid registration/licenses issued by the competent authority and their renewal status, availability of qualified medical staff including psychiatrists, doctors, nurses and trained counselors and maintenance of proper patient admission and discharge records including consent forms and case histories.
The team also enquired as to if there is illegal detention or confinement of patients and those admissions were carried out strictly in accordance with legal provisions. Verification of prescription practices and proper storage of scheduled drugs was also undertaken.
