The DC emphasized that drug abuse poses a serious threat to the social fabric, particularly affecting the youth, and called upon all stakeholders including parents, teachers, civil society, and community leaders to actively participate in the Abhiyan.

He underscored the need for early intervention, continuous counselling, and community-based support systems to help affected individuals reintegrate into society.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, the DC said that this campaign spreads awareness, ensures strict enforcement, and provides treatment and rehabilitation.

The DC stressed that enforcement agencies have been directed to intensify efforts against drug trafficking networks, while healthcare institutions are being strengthened to provide accessible and effective de-addiction services.

He also appreciated the coordinated efforts of all departments in ensuring the successful launch of this drive.

Following the inaugural session, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various sections of the Drug De-Addiction Centre Budgam, taking stock of the facilities, treatment mechanisms, and rehabilitation services being provided to the patients. He interacted with the staff and emphasized the need for compassionate care, professional counselling, and sustained follow-up for successful recovery outcomes.

On the occasion , the SSP also spoke about the various steps taken by Police administration Budgam to curb this menace and to bring the paddlers behind the bars.

Later, the DC, along with SSP Budgam, and other senior officers, led a plantation drive at Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam, symbolizing a commitment towards a healthier environment and a drug-free future.

Addressing students and participants, the DC spoke extensively about the dangers of drug abuse and urged the youth to stay away from harmful substances and act as ambassadors of change in society.

SSP Budgam, in his address, highlighted the crucial role of society in combating drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of community participation in identifying drug peddlers and supporting victims in their recovery journey. He reiterated that the police department is committed to strict action against those involved in drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate in this mission.
