{"id":10647,"date":"2026-01-27T18:55:03","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T18:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=10647"},"modified":"2026-01-27T18:55:03","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T18:55:03","slug":"tourist-tracks-return-to-fresh-powder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/01\/27\/tourist-tracks-return-to-fresh-powder\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourist tracks return to fresh powder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar, Jan 27:\u00a0<\/strong>A fresh spell of snowfall has transformed Kashmir into a winter wonderland, triggering a renewed influx of tourists and boosting morale across the tourism and hospitality sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The tourists are braving chill to capture the snowy spectacle on their cameras from the slopes of Gulmarg to the pine valleys of Pahalgam and the beautiful waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe came all the way from Delhi hoping to see snow and the timing couldn\u2019t have been better,\u201d said Rahul Malhotra, a tourist enjoying the snowfall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole Valley looks magical, like a beautiful picture coming alive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh snowfall and the heaviest so far this winter blanketed most parts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, on Tuesday much to the delight of tourists and locals alike.<\/p>\n<p>Travel operators told KNO the spell has reignited winter tourism after a quiet start to January. \u201cTourism is clearly picking up pace now,\u201d said Rouf Tramboo, President of the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK).<\/p>\n<p>He said they are witnessing a surge in arrivals across destinations. \u201cMost hotels and tour packages for the next few weeks are already booked. Fresh snowfall has given the much-needed boost to winter tourism,\u201d he said, urging the government to reopen closed tourist destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Echoing the sentiment, Tawqeer Ahmad, owner of Connect Kashmir Mobile and Travel Services, said inquiries and bookings have surged sharply since last week. \u201cWe have been getting non-stop calls since the snowfall began. Gulmarg and Pahalgam have heavy bookings for the coming weekend and even Srinagar houseboats are receiving a large number of inquiries,\u201d he told KNO.<\/p>\n<p>Locals associated with tourism say the revival comes as a relief after weeks of unusually dry weather. \u201cBusiness was down earlier this month, but this snow has changed everything,\u201d said Bilal Ahmad, who runs a cafe near Dal Lake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTourists are back and so is the buzz we were missing.\u201d<strong>\u2014(KNO)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Srinagar, Jan 27:\u00a0A fresh spell of snowfall has transformed Kashmir into a winter wonderland, triggering a renewed influx of tourists and boosting morale across the tourism and hospitality sectors.
