{"id":1146,"date":"2025-10-13T19:50:43","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T19:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=1146"},"modified":"2025-10-13T19:50:43","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T19:50:43","slug":"lg-calls-for-transforming-smvdu-into-premier-national-level-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/10\/13\/lg-calls-for-transforming-smvdu-into-premier-national-level-university\/","title":{"rendered":"LG calls for transforming SMVDU into premier national level university"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chairs 36th meeting of Executive Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>KT News Desk<\/p>\n<p>Jammu, Oct 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to take a comprehensive review of the various important initiatives and programmes to regularly update the curriculum to meet the objectives of National Education Policy-2020 and transforming SMVDU into a premier educational institute at the national level.<\/p>\n<p>The LG said this while chairing the 36th meeting of Executive Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, at Raj Bhawan on Monday The meeting was attended by\u00a0 (Dr) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU;\u00a0 Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor Jammu University;\u00a0 Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University;\u00a0 Pankaj Chandra, Vice Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Management, Ahmedabad University;\u00a0 A.S.K. Sinha, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Amethi;\u00a0 Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT, Jammu; Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor; Shri Sachin Kumar Vaishya, CEO, SMVDSB; Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU and other members of Executive Council.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Council discussed several important academic and administrative issues and gave in-principal approval to various agenda points presented during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The LG highlighted the need for a dedicated focus on lifelong learning skill and community engagement, increasing enrolment, industry collaboration and networking, Skill enhancement through short term courses, research, innovation and incubation, patents, strengthening of faculty and staff, and the introduction of new programs from the upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n<p>The Lieutenant Governor directed the University to establish a specialized faculty for languages to offer integrated courses in Hindi, Dogri, French, and German. He emphasized on encouraging students enrolled in foreign languages and technical courses to also pursue Hindi and Dogri languages.
