Jammu, Jan 12: In a significant development, the Jammu & Kashmir Government has said that a policy regarding the establishment of private universities in the Union Territory has been framed.<\/p>\n
In a written response to a cut motion moved by Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone, according to news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Minister in\u2011charge of Higher Education Sakina Itoo said that a policy for setting up private universities in Jammu & Kashmir has been prepared.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026the demands regarding the setting up of private universities in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir have been framed by the Higher Education Department following comprehensive deliberations and are currently under examination in the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that cases for establishing private universities will be examined once the policy is approved. \u201cAs and when the policy is approved, all such cases will be examined on a case\u2011to\u2011case basis,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
