{"id":12638,"date":"2026-02-19T17:21:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T17:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=12638"},"modified":"2026-02-19T17:21:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T17:21:57","slug":"final-decision-pending-on-obc-quota-in-local-bodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/02\/19\/final-decision-pending-on-obc-quota-in-local-bodies\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Final decision pending on OBC quota in local bodies\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar, Feb 19:\u00a0<\/strong>The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that no final decision has yet been taken on reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), even though such reservation is envisaged under the Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Laws (Amendment) Act, 2024, recently enacted by the\u00a0 Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Replying to a question by MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma, the government said that the amendments in the 2024 Act provide for OBC reservation in both rural and urban local bodies.<\/p>\n<p>The government further stated that a three-member Commission, headed by Justice (Retd.)
