{"id":12661,"date":"2026-02-19T17:33:40","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T17:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=12661"},"modified":"2026-02-19T17:33:40","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T17:33:40","slug":"verification-process-a-sword-over-our-youth-sajad-lone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/02\/19\/verification-process-a-sword-over-our-youth-sajad-lone\/","title":{"rendered":"Verification process a \u2018sword\u2019 over our youth: Sajad Lone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jammu, Feb 19:\u00a0<\/strong>Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Thursday said the police verification process has become a sword hanging over the necks of Kashmiri youth.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in the Legislative Assembly during the Grants of Departments headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lone termed the verification process \u201ccollective punishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a single person in your family has made a mistake, then 100, 200, 300, or even 400 young people belonging to that family are denied police verification,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lone urged the Chief Minister to convey to New Delhi that Kashmiri youth are suffering because of this process. \u201cAt least please go and tell them that our children are suffering. They are suffering. They are our children. If we don\u2019t speak for them in this Assembly, who will?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>Pointing towards BJP legislators, Lone appealed to them to use their influence to intervene in the matter. \u201cIn many cases, children are punished for the actions of a person even before they were born. Are they not Indians?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the ongoing demolitions were taking place in a \u201ctoxic environment\u201d after the abrogation of Article 370 and the downgrading of J&amp;K into a Union Territory. \u201cThis is not a normal time. Whatever the government does today can be used against us tomorrow,\u201d he cautioned.<\/p>\n<p>Lone said serving eviction notices is a dangerous trend. \u201cThis is a dangerous trend and will be used for dispossession,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<p>He further argued that ownership is being made ambiguous, and people who bought shops at market rates are being treated as encroachers. \u201cThis government cares more about leaseholders than about poor people who have invested their hard-earned money,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The PC president slammed the CM for using what he termed harsh language against the daily-wagers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say use kind words.
