Srinagar, Feb 24: Maximum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir remained significantly above normal on Tuesday, with most places in the Kashmir Valley recording departures of 9 to 11 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average.<\/p>\n
The data, accessed by the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) indicates that while the Kashmir continued to witness unusually high temperatures for February, parts of Ladakh experienced a cooling trend compared to Monday.<\/p>\n
In Srinagar, the summer capital, the maximum temperature settled at 21.0\u00b0C, which is 10.0\u00b0C above normal \u2014 unchanged from Monday. Qazigund also remained steady at 21.2\u00b0C, hovering 11.1\u00b0C above average, one of the highest departures in the Valley.<\/p>\n
Pahalgam recorded a slight rise to 17.6\u00b0C from 17.3\u00b0C a day earlier, while Kupwara dipped marginally to 20.4\u00b0C from 20.6\u00b0C. Kokernag saw a drop to 18.4\u00b0C compared to Monday\u2019s 19.0\u00b0C, though it continued to remain nearly 10\u00b0C above normal. Gulmarg held steady at 11.2\u00b0C, around 9.2\u00b0C above the seasonal average.<\/p>\n
In the Jammu division, temperatures showed minor fluctuations. Jammu city recorded 25.3\u00b0C, up from 25.0\u00b0C on Monday, remaining about 3\u00b0C above normal. Banihal rose sharply to 21.4\u00b0C from 20.2\u00b0C, increasing its positive departure to 8.3\u00b0C. Batote also climbed to 19.9\u00b0C from 19.4\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
However, Bhaderwah registered a noticeable fall, dropping to 18.2\u00b0C from 20.1\u00b0C recorded the previous day. Katra slipped slightly to 24.5\u00b0C from 25.0\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
In the Ladakh region, Leh remained unchanged at 7.0\u00b0C, while Kargil saw a significant fall to 7.0\u00b0C from 9.3\u00b0C recorded on Monday. Nubra Valley also registered a decline, settling at 10.1\u00b0C compared to 11.1\u00b0C a day earlier.<\/p>\n
