Jammu, Mar 31: As many as 64 Private Member Bills are listed in the business of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
According to the list of business circulated by the Assembly Secretariat, as per news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 64 bills have been scheduled for introduction in the House tomorrow.<\/p>\n
All eyes will be on NC MLA Tanvir Sadiq\u2019s bill seeking renewal of leases to existing leaseholders. The bill is listed at serial number four and will be taken up for introduction if proceedings run smoothly.<\/p>\n
While most other private member bills are expected to be either opposed by the Government or withdrawn by the members in charge, the Government\u2019s position on Tanvir Sadiq\u2019s bill will be watched closely-particularly in light of the expiry of leases held by hoteliers in Gulmarg.<\/p>\n
The bill has been submitted to counter the impact of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Grants Rules, 2022.<\/p>\n
The new rules, unveiled by the LG-led administration in 2022, stipulate that all leases\u2014except subsisting or expired residential leases, including those granted under the Jammu and Kashmir Land Grants Rules, 1960, the Notified Area (All Development Authorities in the tourism sector) Land Grant Rules, 2007, or leases expired or determined prior to the commencement of these rules, or issued under these rules-shall not be renewed and shall stand determined.<\/p>\n
