{"id":1781,"date":"2025-10-21T20:19:59","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T20:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=1781"},"modified":"2025-10-21T20:19:59","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T20:19:59","slug":"statehood-resolution-stonewalled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/10\/21\/statehood-resolution-stonewalled\/","title":{"rendered":"Statehood resolution stonewalled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Assembly secretariat disallows Lone\u2019s resolution, cites sub-judice status<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Srinagar, Oct 21: In a move which could stir a political controversy, the Legislative Assembly Secretariat has disallowed a resolution submitted by Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone seeking the restoration of statehood to Jammu &amp; Kashmir, citing that the issue is sub-judice.<\/p>\n<p>Sources told news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Assembly Secretariat has disallowed the resolution and wouldn\u2019t be subjected to balloting taking place on October 22. \u201cThe resolution has been disallowed on the grounds that the matter is sub judice, \u201cthey said.<\/p>\n<p>Under Rule 177 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Jammu &amp; Kashmir\u2019s Legislative Assembly, a resolution is inadmissible if it pertains to any matter currently under adjudication by a court of law anywhere in India.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to reach Lone for comment were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India is actively hearing petitions on the same issue. On October 10, a five-judge bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai granted the Union Government four weeks to respond to multiple pleas seeking a time-bound roadmap for restoring statehood.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has recently said that he is seriously considering joining the case as a petitioner.
