Srinagar, Oct 24: In a closely watched political contest, the ruling National Conference (NC) secured three out of four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled off a surprise victory by clinching the fourth seat.<\/p>\n
According to results declared by the authorities, as per news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), NC\u2019s Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan won the first seat by securing 58 votes, defeating BJP\u2019s Ali Muhammad Mir, who polled 28 votes. One vote was declared invalid, officials said.<\/p>\n
The second seat was claimed by NC\u2019s Sajad Kichloo, who garnered 57 votes against 29 polled by BJP\u2019s Rakesh Kumar. Two votes were declared invalid in this round, according to election officials.<\/p>\n
In a dramatic twist, BJP\u2019s Sat Sharma and NC-backed Gurinder Singh Oberoi were declared winners on the third and fourth seats, respectively.<\/p>\n
Sharma secured 32 votes, while Oberoi received 31. NC\u2019s Imran Nabi Dar, who was expected to win the fourth seat, managed to secure only 21 votes\u2014falling short despite the ruling alliance\u2019s numerical advantage.<\/p>\n
