Srinagar, May 25: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at three locations in Srinagar and Shopian as part of its ongoing investigation into the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (J&K) terror funding case, officials said.<\/p>\n
During the raids, officials seized electronic gadgets and financial documents allegedly linked to separatist and terror-related activities in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued to the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the NIA conducted searches at three locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror funding case linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) organisation.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson said the searches in Srinagar and Shopian districts led to the recovery of several incriminating financial documents and electronic gadgets suspected to be linked to the activities of JeI and its various trusts and associations in J&K.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NIA has been probing the separatist and secessionist activities of JeI, declared an unlawful association under the UA(P) Act, as part of its investigation in the case RC-03\/2021\/NIA\/DLI,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
According to the spokesperson, NIA investigations have revealed that JeI was actively involved in collecting terror funds and fuelling terrorism in the Valley and other parts of India. The organisation allegedly collected funds domestically and internationally in the name of charity and welfare activities such as health and education, and diverted them towards violent and secessionist activities.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson further said the funds were also channelled to proscribed terrorist organisations, including Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), through well-organised networks of cadres.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe JeI terror conspiracy further involved radicalisation and recruitment of impressionable Kashmiri youth as new members (Rukuns) for carrying out secessionist activities,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
