{"id":2690,"date":"2025-10-31T18:22:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T18:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=2690"},"modified":"2025-10-31T18:22:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T18:22:17","slug":"la-session-uproar-in-assembly-over-viral-videos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/10\/31\/la-session-uproar-in-assembly-over-viral-videos\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0LA Session: Uproar in assembly over viral videos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar, Oct 31:\u00a0<\/strong>The Jammu &amp; Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Friday witnessed protests from legislators of the ruling National Conference (NC) against a news portal for circulating a video showing an MLA scrolling through social media during the House proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as Question Hour began, MLA from Karnah Javid Mirchal demanded strict action against the portal, accusing it of defaming him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was asking a question about doctors, I opened Facebook for a few seconds. A video of that moment was captured and circulated on social media,\u201d Mirchal said.<\/p>\n<p>Mirchal added that he couldn\u2019t sleep the entire night due to the online harassment he faced. \u201cAction should be taken against these paid agents,\u201d he demanded.<\/p>\n<p>Intervening in the matter, NC\u2019s Nazir Gurezi claimed that Mirchal was actually viewing business documents sent by the Assembly Secretariat. \u201cHis constituents are accusing him of wasting time in the Assembly on social media instead of raising issues concerning his constituency,\u201d Gurezi said, adding that the party is moving a privilege motion against the portal in question.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather assured the protesting lawmakers that appropriate action would be taken.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary also called for strict action against social media pages that circulated reels featuring a conversation between him and Education Minister Sakina Ittoo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSakina Ittoo was sitting with me. We were discussing something. They captured a clip and made reels. This is an insult. We are respectable people. She tied a Rakhi on my wrist. Had she not been my sister, it wouldn\u2019t have been appropriate.
