Srinagar, Aug 25: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K on Tuesday said it has chargesheeted a man for allegedly cheating a family by promising to provide cheaper medicines for a cancer patient.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued to the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the EOW Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Sub-Judge, Srinagar, against Afaq Ahmad Thug, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of New Colony, Hazratbal, Anantnag, presently residing at 10-Green Enclave, Barmuni Road, Sunjwan, Jammu, in case FIR No. 25\/2026 under Section 318(4) of the BNS.<\/p>\n
He said the case pertains to a written complaint alleging that the accused cheated the complainant by promising to provide medicines for his wife, who was suffering from cancer, at a cheaper rate.<\/p>\n
It was further alleged that the accused dishonestly induced the complainant to pay lakhs of rupees but subsequently failed to supply the medicines as promised.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson said a probe was ordered and the allegations were substantiated during the investigation. The accused and the complainant were also found to have been schoolmates at a boarding school more than 40 years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsequently, upon completion of the investigation, the chargesheet has been presented before the court for judicial determination in accordance with law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
