{"id":29197,"date":"2026-08-29T01:11:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T01:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=29197"},"modified":"2026-08-29T01:11:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T01:11:22","slug":"raksha-bandhan-celebrated-across-kashmir-with-fervour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/08\/29\/raksha-bandhan-celebrated-across-kashmir-with-fervour\/","title":{"rendered":"Raksha Bandhan celebrated across Kashmir with fervour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Devotees throng temples, offer prayers, exchange greetings <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Srinagar, Aug 28: Raksha Bandhan was celebrated across Kashmir Valley on Friday, with devotees visiting temples, offering prayers and seeking blessings on the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The festival, which celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, was marked by religious ceremonies and family gatherings\u00a0at various places\u00a0across the Valley.<\/p>\n<p>At the historic Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar, devotees turned up in large numbers and\u00a0were seen standing\u00a0in long queues to enter the hilltop shrine and offer prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Arun Kumar, a resident of Maharashtra\u00a0who is\u00a0visiting Kashmir with his family, told the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer\u00a0(KNO)\u00a0that they decided to celebrate the festival by visiting the temple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRaksha Bandhan is a special occasion for us. We came here to offer prayers and seek blessings for the happiness, peace and well-being of our families. This is our first Raksha Bandhan in Kashmir, and we are enjoying it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Another devotee, Amit Singh, said the peaceful atmosphere at the shrine made the occasion special. \u201cThe atmosphere here is very peaceful. Visiting the temple on Raksha Bandhan and offering prayers gives us a sense of spiritual fulfilment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Raksha Bandhan is traditionally observed on the full-moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, with sisters tying rakhis on their brothers\u2019 wrists and praying for their well-being.
