BJP, Congress MLAs marshalled out; Speaker warns protesting members of strict action<\/strong><\/p>\n

Srinagar, Sep 28: The Legislative Assembly witnessed high drama on Monday as BJP legislators staged a mock Assembly session from the Well of the House, while the ongoing uproar led to the marshalling out of BJP and Congress members during the debate on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah\u2019s resolution seeking restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

After entering into the Well, the BJP legislators, as per the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) sat down and began conducting parallel proceedings, holding what appeared to be a mock session as the debate on the Statehood resolution continued in the House.<\/p>\n

During the parallel proceedings, BJP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia targeted Congress MLA Nizamuddin Bhat over the references to autonomy and the pre-1953 position in the resolution.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you want the restoration of the post of Prime Minister’s nomenclature in Jammu and Kashmir?\u201d Mankotia asked Bhat.<\/p>\n

The BJP members have been opposing the references to the 1952 and pre-1953 political position, arguing that such references should not form part of a resolution seeking restoration of statehood.<\/p>\n

The protests and counter-sloganeering continued inside the House, disrupting the proceedings repeatedly.<\/p>\n

As the ruckus persisted, BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa and MLA Arvind Gupta, along with Congress MLAs Irfan Hafiz Lone and Iftikhar Ahmad, were marshalled out of the House.<\/p>\n

The Speaker warned the protesting legislators of strict action and directed members to maintain discipline and decorum during the proceedings.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaintain discipline or face tough action,\u201d the Speaker warned amid continued sloganeering and protests.<\/p>\n
