{"id":32157,"date":"2026-10-09T01:40:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T01:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=32157"},"modified":"2026-10-09T01:40:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T01:40:12","slug":"loans-worth-rs-14-71-cr-provided-to-artisans-weavers-in-q1-q2-of-cfy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/10\/09\/loans-worth-rs-14-71-cr-provided-to-artisans-weavers-in-q1-q2-of-cfy\/","title":{"rendered":"Loans worth\u00a0Rs 14.71 Cr provided to artisans, weavers in Q1 &#038; Q2 of CFY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>Rs 19.00 Cr interest subvention provided by Handicrafts &amp; Handloom Dept since 2020<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 8: Artisans and weavers across Kashmir are receiving a fresh boost of working capital, with the Handicrafts and Handloom Department extending loans worth\u00a0\u20b914.71 crore under its flagship Credit Card Scheme in the first two quarters of the current financial year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the 3,885 applications sponsored to banks, 1,332 have been sanctioned and 1,054 disbursed by the end of September 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sharing details in a press release issued here Thursday, spokesman of the Department stated that the department is working with lead banks and other financial institutions to widen access to this facility. \u201cThe funds are meant to help craftspeople set up independent units and buy raw material and tools in a sector that remains heavily labour-intensive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The spokesman, as per an official statement, further stated that the beneficiaries also receive interest subvention of 7% on a tapering basis for five years, designed to help new units become self-sustaining. \u201cSince the credit limit was raised from\u00a0\u20b91 lakh to\u00a0\u20b92 lakh in 2020, in line with the Wool Processing, Handloom and Handicrafts Policy, more than 10,000 craftsmen have taken loans totalling\u00a0\u20b9151 crore,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the same period, the department has provided interest subvention of\u00a0\u20b919 crore to support these unit-holders, he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme is aimed at reducing dependence on informal credit and giving traditional crafts a more stable financial footing. By easing access to formal loans for tools, raw material and small production units, the department hopes to help artisans and weavers expand output, retain younger craftspeople in the trade and strengthen Kashmir\u2019s handloom and handicraft economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artisans and weavers can apply online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/singlewindow.jk.gov.in\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/singlewindow.jk.gov.in\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1791595094210000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0SwOqR0fe1jXeDNKgMiEg9\">singlewindow.jk.gov.in<\/a>\u00a0to avail the benefits of the scheme.
