{"id":32927,"date":"2026-10-17T19:03:55","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T19:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=32927"},"modified":"2026-10-17T19:03:55","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T19:03:55","slug":"adopt-smart-policing-digital-beat-policing-igp-kashmir-directs-police-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/10\/17\/adopt-smart-policing-digital-beat-policing-igp-kashmir-directs-police-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"Adopt \u2018SMART Policing,\u2019 \u2018Digital Beat Policing\u2019: IGP Kashmir directs police stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Says initiative aims to transform PSs into modern, efficient, accountable, citizen-friendly institutions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Srinagar, Oct 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Sujit Kumar Singh, on Saturday directed all police stations across the Valley to adopt \u2018SMART Policing\u2019 and \u2018Digital Beat Policing\u2019 as an integral part of their day-to-day functioning.<\/p>\n<p>While chairing a conference on \u2018SMART Policing and Digital Beat Policing,\u2019 attended by Range DIGs, District SSsP, Additional SsP, Zonal SsP, DySsP and SHOs from across Kashmir Zone, IGP Sujeet Kumar, according to the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) in line with the directions and vision of the Director General of Police, J&amp;K, Nalin Prabhat, highlighted the five fundamental principles of SMART Policing; \u201cStrict and Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive and Techno-savvy and Trained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the SMART Policing concept should not remain confined to policy documents but must be reflected in the conduct, working culture and public service delivery of every Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>The IGP Kashmir said the initiative aims to transform Police Stations into modern, efficient, accountable and citizen-friendly institutions, ensuring better and faster delivery of services to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The IGP Kashmir directed all SHOs to institutionalize Digital Beat Policing in their jurisdictions. \u201cBeat Officers shall undertake regular field visits, maintain meaningful interaction with local residents and ensure that policing services reach the last person in the last mile of every beat,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cThe digital beat policing should facilitate, Public Outreach: Regular interaction with citizens to address their grievances. Digital Beat Records: Regular updating of beat-level information on digital platforms. Quick Public Service Delivery: Prompt, transparent and accessible police services through technology. Accountability: Clear responsibilities for Beat Officers, with monitoring by SHOs and supervisory officers. Community Participation: Strengthening public confidence through continuous engagement.\u00a0 Future-Ready Policing: Equipping Police Stations with modern tools, digital capabilities and professional skills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IGP Kashmir observed that the Police Station is the key point of contact between police and public, and must be accessible, responsive and tech-empowered. Supervisory officers were directed to personally monitor implementation and ensure visible results on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur objective is to make every Police Station in Kashmir Zone SMART and citizen-centric, where technology strengthens accountability and police services reach every citizen with dignity,\u201d the IGP Kashmir said.<\/p>\n<p>All District Police Heads were directed to ensure effective implementation across Kashmir Zone, with emphasis on tech-driven service delivery, beat-level engagement and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The IGP said that Kashmir Zone Police remains committed to a modern, responsive and future-ready policing system.
