{"id":3443,"date":"2025-11-08T18:46:45","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T18:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=3443"},"modified":"2025-11-08T18:46:45","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T18:46:45","slug":"power-perils-jks-hydel-power-generation-dips-by-nearly-70","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/11\/08\/power-perils-jks-hydel-power-generation-dips-by-nearly-70\/","title":{"rendered":"=== Power Perils ===  J&#038;K\u2019s hydel power generation dips by nearly 70%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kashmir records 1742 MWs power load<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Srinagar, Nov 08: In Jammu and Kashmir, hydel power generation has reduced by nearly 70 percent from the local generation plants.<\/p>\n<p>An official informed the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the power generation from all the power plants owned by Jammu and Kashmir has decreased by nearly 800-900 Megawatts (MWs).<\/p>\n<p>The official also said, \u201cThe power generation from across local power plants is currently ranging from 330 MWs to 400 MWs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also said, \u201cFrom one of the plants from Baglihar, the power generation is ranging from 250-380 MWs and in case of another power plant of Baglihar, Kishenpur and New Wanpoh, we are generating a maximum of one MW.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The official further informed that the department is able to generate only 71 MWs from Kashmir based power plants.<\/p>\n<p>About the power load and forced curtailment, the official said that there was a forecast of 1750 MWs load and forced curtailment of 40 MWs in Kashmir on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the morning, we recorded a power load of 1742 MWs in Kashmir division and 1036 MWs in Jammu division respectively,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n<p>Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir was generating over 1100 MWs of power from the total generation capacity of 1197.4 MW during the peak season.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the last week of October, the official had informed KNO that there were additional 800 MWs allocated from the centre. \u201cFrom this year, we have 1300 MW from the central pool. We have started banking with other states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pertinently, till the third week of February,-2025 an official had said that Jammu and Kashmir was relying on more than 85 percent of coal and solar power amid acute deficit of hydro power generation.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of PDD department had claimed that local hydro power generation from the local power plants have reduced by nearly 90 percent.<\/p>\n<p>An official had informed that \u201cAt present Jammu and Kashmir is 85-90 percent dependent on coal and solar energy that is being procured from the other states because as of now we don\u2019t have a local power generation.\u201d (KNO)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kashmir records 1742 MWs power load Srinagar, Nov 08: In Jammu and Kashmir, hydel power generation has reduced by nearly 70 percent from the local generation plants.
