{"id":5689,"date":"2025-12-02T18:32:59","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T18:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=5689"},"modified":"2025-12-02T18:32:59","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T18:32:59","slug":"flyover-opening-completes-trio-of-nh-44-flyovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/12\/02\/flyover-opening-completes-trio-of-nh-44-flyovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Flyover opening completes \u2018trio of NH-44 flyovers\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar, Dec 02:\u00a0<\/strong>The government on Tuesday evening opened the Sanat Nagar flyover for public movement, completing the trio of flyovers along the 3.23-km NH-44 decongestion corridor between Bemina and Nowgam.<\/p>\n<p>A senior official from the Roads &amp; Buildings (R&amp;B) Department said that the opening followed \u201curgent directions\u201d from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary to end the daily traffic chaos at the junction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe flyover is traffic-ready. Minor works will continue, but public movement has been allowed,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n<p>With this, Bemina, Nowgam and Sanat Nagar flyovers are now all operational, creating Srinagar\u2019s \u2018first 3.23-km NH-44 decongestion uninterrupted tri-flyover corridor\u2019 aimed at easing pressure on one of the busiest stretches of the city.<\/p>\n<p>The official added that the Sanat Nagar segment had faced delays earlier due to technical issues and utility-shifting work, including power, drainage and telecom lines, but is now completed and open.\u00a0 \u201cThose hurdles slowed us down, but the corridor is fully functional now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Commuters welcomed the development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis junction troubled people for years. Opening it will finally bring some relief,\u201d said Javid Ahmad, a commuter from Hyderpora. Another commuter from Rawalpora said, \u201cTraffic would choke here every evening. This was long overdue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To ease chronic congestion on NH-44 in Srinagar, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) planned three flyovers at Bemina, Nowgam and Sanat Nagar in the year 2020.
