{"id":619,"date":"2025-10-04T20:47:36","date_gmt":"2025-10-04T20:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=619"},"modified":"2025-10-04T20:47:36","modified_gmt":"2025-10-04T20:47:36","slug":"div-com-kashmir-reviews-measures-to-decongest-city-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/10\/04\/div-com-kashmir-reviews-measures-to-decongest-city-roads\/","title":{"rendered":"Div Com Kashmir reviews measures to decongest city roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KT News Desk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Srinagar, Oct 04:<\/strong> In a bid to streamline traffic\u00a0 mobility in city, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with\u00a0 stakeholder departments to review ongoing and proposed measures aimed at decongesting major &amp; interior roads in Srinagar city.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was attended by Vice Chairpersons of LCMA, SDA, SSP Traffic Srinagar, ADC Srinagar, Chief Engineer R&amp;B, Joint Commissioner SMC, and representatives from the Wildlife, Transport, and JKRTC.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting held threadbare discussions on development of Multi-Level Parking at different locations, Widening of Boulevard Road, development of Smart City charging Infrastructure, operationalization of\u00a0 ITMS camers and traffic signals, regulation of E-Rickshaws and framing of Policy for influx of\u00a0 used vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, he laid emphasis\u00a0 on expediting the creation of multi-parking facilities, particularly in high-density areas such as Nishat, Shalimar Bagh, Jama Masjid, Sanat Nagar, Bemina, and Batamaloo.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also discussed impact of the\u00a0 widening Boulevard Road to ease traffic pressure and enhance tourist and local movement besides allowing one-way traffic from Dalgate to Nehru Park.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also, the meeting discussed the introducing one-way traffic movement on selected interior roads. It was decided to start the initiative on the pilot basis to assess its effectiveness before wider implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Development of charging infrastructure for Smart City electric buses to avoid bunching of e-buses was also discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Div Com directed the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) to adhere to the committed timelines for the operation of traffic lights and ITMS cameras at 66 key junctions.<\/p>\n<p>Further,\u00a0 Div Com urged to encourage private landowners along Boulevard Road to partner with the administration by lending land for parking purposes on tripartite basis.<\/p>\n<p>He also called for regulation of e-rickshaws and demarcation of \u2018No-Go Zones\u2019 to reduce congestion on main roads.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting deliberated on the need for a policy to regulate the increasing number of used vehicles being brought into Kashmir Valley.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure effective execution, Div Com directed all departments to categorize proposed measures into short-term, mid-term, and long-term actions.
