Srinagar, Dec 12: The Union Government has not sanctioned any new government hospitals for Jammu and Kashmir in the last five years, Health and Family Welfare informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.<\/p>\n
It also said that Ladakh has received over Rs 14.39 crore under the National Health Mission (NHM) for health infrastructure development during 2025\u201326, the Ministry of<\/p>\n
According to the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the ministry informed that Jammu & Kashmir received \u2018zero allocation under NHM\u2019s building infrastructure component for both 2024\u201325 and 2025\u201326\u2019.<\/p>\n
Ladakh was approved Rs 1,274.33 lakh in 2024\u201325 and Rs 1,439.05 lakh in 2025\u201326 for strengthening health infrastructure.<\/p>\n
It also said that setting up new hospitals is primarily the responsibility of States and Union Territories, though the Centre supports them under schemes such as NHM, PM-ABHIM, ECRP-II, PMSSY and the 15th Finance Commission grants.<\/p>\n
The Ministry noted that both J&K and Ladakh UTs can seek central assistance based on proposals submitted through their annual Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs).<\/p>\n
The Centre also reiterated that substantial investment continues nationwide through schemes including PM-ABHIM\u2019s Critical Care Blocks and PMSSY upgrades. (KNO)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
