{"id":7163,"date":"2025-12-17T17:47:36","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T17:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=7163"},"modified":"2025-12-17T17:47:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T17:47:36","slug":"rural-areas-lead-jk-postal-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2025\/12\/17\/rural-areas-lead-jk-postal-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Rural areas lead J&#038;K postal network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi, Dec 17:\u00a0<\/strong>249 post offices are currently functioning across Jammu and Kashmir, with the majority catering to rural areas, the government said.<\/p>\n<p>In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Communications said, 147 post offices are operational in the Jammu region, while 102 post offices fall under the Srinagar headquarters region.<\/p>\n<p>To make the postal services strong in Jammu and Kashmir, the setting up of a new Sub-Post Office in Jammu and Kashmir is being proposed by the government in the upcoming year.<\/p>\n<p>While talking about staff infrastructure, the Ministry said that eight residential colonies for postal employees are available in J&amp;K, including five in Jammu and three in Srinagar. Adding further, it said that the existing facilities are adequate to meet the requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry further added that in Jammu and Kashmir, postal services are strengthened by a nationwide network of over 1.64 lakh post offices, which ensures connectivity and village-level coverage across the country, including the Union Territory<strong>\u2014(KNO)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Dec 17:\u00a0249 post offices are currently functioning across Jammu and Kashmir, with the majority catering to rural areas, the government said.
