Pays tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, hoists tricolour at flag point<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jammu, Dec 30: Describing Jammu as symbol of India\u2019s national unity, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday lauded the people of the region for their indomitable spirit and unwavering resilience.<\/p>\n

Addressing a function organized to mark 82nd anniversary of the hoisting of Tricolour on Indian soil by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1943, LG Sinha, according to the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, \u201cJammu is a symbol of India\u2019s national unity and an unbroken cultural stream. The indomitable spirit of the people of Jammu kept the flame of complete integration of J&K burning through several generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lieutenant Governor also hoisted the Tricolour and inaugurated the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Flag Point at JDA Park, Ram Vihar here in the winter capital.\u00a0 \u201cOur unity is the strength and crucial for success. We must remain one and preserve our shared heritage and shared values,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While paying rich tributes to Netaji Subhash Chander Bose, LG Sinha said that on December 30, 1943, Netaji declared Port Blair free from British rule, and gave all countrymen the resolve for Independence. \u201cToday\u2019s initiative aims to commemorate the glorious contribution of Netaji to the freedom struggle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that the “Jai Hind” slogan given by Netaji remains a symbol of national valour that once united the Azad Hind Fauj and continues to inspire 140 Crore Indians today. \u201cNetaji Subhas Chandra Bose\u2019s patriotism was unparalleled. His extraordinary valour provided India with a vital mantra: The future can only be built on the foundation of unity. He believed that a society fragmented by divisions could never construct a lasting future.\u00a0 Netaji\u2019s advocacy for Swaraj, his efforts for empowerment of youth and women, his economic policy and emphasis on industrialisation and promotion of small-scale industries played a crucial role in building the foundation of a self-reliant India today,\u201d the Lieutenant Governor said.<\/p>\n

The Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring that Netaji\u2019s legacy received its rightful place in history.<\/p>\n

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu Development Authority, Housing & Urban Development Department and District Administration for their collaborative endeavour to honour Netaji\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

He also called for holding regular commemorative events on December 30th every year.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor visited the photo gallery depicting life history of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. A documentary showcasing Netaji\u2019s leadership and his pivotal role in India\u2019s independence was screened.<\/p>\n

Sham Lal Sharma and Arvind Gupta, Members of Legislative Assembly; Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu Zone; Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range; Dr Devansh Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Jammu; Dr Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Rupesh Kumar, Vice Chairman JDA and senior officials of civil and police administration were present. Padma Shri Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; Padma Shri Dr SP Varma, prominent citizens and people from different walks of life also attended the National Flag Hoisting ceremony.
