{"id":9012,"date":"2026-01-07T18:25:35","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=9012"},"modified":"2026-01-07T18:25:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:25:35","slug":"drass-reels-under-22c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/01\/07\/drass-reels-under-22c\/","title":{"rendered":"Drass reels under \u201322\u00b0C"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Army\u2019s \u2018Jashn-E-Fateh\u2019 keeps sports spirit alive<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Drass (Ladakh), Jan 07:\u00a0<\/strong>As intense cold tightened its grip over Ladakh, Drass\u2014the world\u2019s second coldest inhabited place\u2014recorded a biting minimum temperature of minus 22 degrees Celsius, freezing water bodies and streams and marking the peak of the winter season in the Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the harsh conditions, local residents, particularly the youth, are actively participating in winter sports carnival \u201cJashn-E-Fateh\u201d, organized by the Indian Army.<\/p>\n<p>The region has witnessed spells of snowfall in recent days, raising hopes for the upcoming Winter Games, including ice hockey and other snow-based events. However, residents noted that snowfall this season has been comparatively less and expressed hope for more snow to ensure smooth conduct of winter sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven in such extreme cold, these sports activities keep us motivated and engaged.
