{"id":9739,"date":"2026-01-16T18:12:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T18:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/?p=9739"},"modified":"2026-01-16T18:12:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T18:12:06","slug":"verifying-imams-mosques-shields-religious-properties-waqf-chairperson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmirthunder.in\/index.php\/2026\/01\/16\/verifying-imams-mosques-shields-religious-properties-waqf-chairperson\/","title":{"rendered":"Verifying Imams, Mosques shields religious properties: Waqf chairperson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar, Jan 16:\u00a0<\/strong>Stating that the verification of Imams, Khateebs and mosques is purely administrative to safeguard Waqf assets and dismiss any political motives, the<\/p>\n<p>Jammu &amp; Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday dismissed any political motives in the verification of Imams, Khateebs and mosques, terming it a &#8220;purely administrative&#8221; process to ensure long-term protection of religious properties across the Union Territory.<\/p>\n<p>She appealed to the clerics and mosque committees to cooperate with the administration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The verification process is being unnecessarily politicised by certain vested interests. There is absolutely no need for fear or confusion. This exercise is meant to secure our religious and community assets, not to target anyone,\u201d Dr Andrabi said, as per the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO).<\/p>\n<p>She said Jammu and Kashmir has emerged among the top UTs in registering Waqf properties under the UMEED Portal launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. \u201cWe worked tirelessly to ensure transparency.
