SHOPIAN, JANUARY 24: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) Shopian Saturday organised a special awareness and welfare programme at the District Hospital, Shopian with the objective of promoting the value, dignity and education of the girl child.
The programme, as per an official statement, was graced by the Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Shopian, Dr Javaid, who attended as the Chief Guest.
On the occasion, baby girl kits were distributed among mothers who gave birth to baby girls at the hospital Saturday and the mothers were encouraged and congratulated as a gesture of support for families welcoming girl children.
While addressing the gathering, the Medical Superintendent highlighted the importance of the girl child in society and stressed that girls must be provided equal opportunities in education, health and overall development. He emphasized that educating girls is the foundation of a progressive and empowered society and urged parents and the community to nurture and support their daughters with pride and responsibility.
The programme was organised under the directions of the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Shopian, Ibrar Hussain Mirza, who has been actively promoting initiatives focused on women empowerment and child welfare across the district.
